Our Latest Submission Call

Write In For Charity Leicester, better known as WI4C Leicester, takes off from where The Big Care Write-Up finished. As with previous collections, this latest collection will benefit good causes - more news on which charity that will be to follow at a later date. Previous anthologies have supported The Carers Centre Leicestershire & Rutland and LOROS, and we hope to support another local charity with our latest project.

WI4C Leicester is embarking on another open call for submissions. Successful pieces will appear in an anthology entitled “Don’t Get Caught!

We are looking for light-hearted short stories, between 1,000 and 5,000 words, about “getting away with it”.  Stories can be in any style or genre.

Maybe the next door neighbour has no intention of returning the lawnmower he borrowed. Perhaps someone has been stealing all of the pens from their workplace without reproach. It could even be that someone has hidden a secret crime from their friends and family for many years. The list of possible misdemeanours is endless! Whether they actually get away with it or not is entirely your choice. Whatever your main character, or indeed characters, have done wrong, your story should have an upbeat tone. Think “cosy crime” rather than “hard-hitting drama” – even if your story doesn’t actually involve the classic definition of a “crime”. After all, there are things we have the potential to get away with in all aspects of our lives. Be as creative and as inventive with the brief as you like.

Completed stories should be sent to Dale Anthony Church at wi4cleics@gmail.com, stating the title of the story (or stories) you are submitting and your name. Please also include "Submission" in your subject title.

The closing date for submissions is Sunday 10th July, 2022 at midnight.

Grace and myself will once again be undertaking editing duties with our current release date pencilled in for Sunday 25th September, 2022. As editors, we may reject submissions for any reason should we deem them to be unsuitable for the anthology.

Unfortunately, as much as we would both like to be able to, we cannot offer individual feedback to authors. However, we endeavour to give clear reasons if any of your submissions are rejected.

Please feel free to contact me for any further information via our Twitter accountour Facebook page or via email (for more in-depth queries) and I shall get back to you as soon as possible.

Grace and I look forward to reading your stories.

Thanks

Dale Anthony Church
